It started in Monterrey, where Rocio — an interior designer and the family matriarch — opened her own showroom fifteen years ago. Her brief was simple: bring Europe’s best furniture makers to clients who would otherwise have to fly to find them. The relationships she built with houses across Italy, Greece, France, and Spain are the foundation we still draw on today.
In Austin, her son David and his wife Katherine carry that work forward. They moved here fourteen years ago and asked the same question Rocio had: where do people who care about design go in this city? Metaphoric is their answer.
The showroom on North Lamar holds work by a short roster of European makers, chosen one piece at a time. We work across residential interiors, hospitality, and commercial projects in the U.S. and Mexico.
We’re a small team. We work closely with the people we sell to. And we believe a piece of furniture should outlive the conversation about its price.
