ALEVILLAVILA is deeply passionate about the vibrant culture and traditions of Mexico. Her print series, Juguetes Mexicanos, pays tribute to traditional Mexican toys, presenting them as if in a studio photo shoot, dramatically set against a black background. Through this work, she hopes to inspire new generations to appreciate their charm even if they’ve never played with them and allow those who have to see them through a fresh, contemporary lens. In this particular print, the kite is already soaring in the sky. The challenge for ALEVILLAVILA was to evoke its vibrant colors through varied textures while also capturing the volume and detail of the child’s clothing and the outstretched arm holding the string conveying a sense of movement, depth, and tactile richness. This piece is printed on 300 gsm Fabriano paper and elegantly framed in a black recycled frame.
