"1, 2, 3, and 4... These 4 works are part of the series 'Between Being and Being Located.' A collection of 15 pieces created in 2004 for an individual exhibition that inaugurated the remodeling of the Lobby of the Rector's Tower of the UANL in Monterrey, N.L., Mexico. Until then, the development of the theme of my art had been based on the detail of the northeastern landscape, finding beauty in ruins, stones, doors, and old windows that hid stories, inert objects but loaded with the energy of time... At the same time, in contrast, I explored painting the colorful fruits, their textures, smells, and shapes full of life. These two themes led me to reflect on representing my life with fruits, ultimately a life with an expiration date... 'The Being'... and the ruins, stones, and spaces that will endure over time would be 'The Being Located.' Our life changes according to our environment, our circumstances, and likewise, we also leave something in space... thus 'Between Being and Being Located' was born."
